We have had a customer with a large IT department become so adept at using SurePower Innovation that they developed an entire product line that we don’t currently offer, Workers’ Comp. Unfortunately their version is so specialized to their needs, we couldn’t adapt it as a base for offering the product. But it illustrates how flexible SurePower Innovation can be as an insurance-specific development platform.

A Tightly Integrated Development Environment

SPiFW combines a suite of tools and techniques to give the developer a totally integrated development environment (IDE) experience. Distributed team development is highly emphasized and the IDE leverages the advantages of OFW's three architectural technologies: SOA, MDA, and MVC.

Robust, Ready-to-Use Functionality

SPiFW comes with a large, highly developed library of modules for developing and integrating business solutions. XML, Web services, and vendor-neutral database management are just a few of the core feature areas.

Integrated Run-time & Support Tools

SPiFW comes with a strong run-time environment, including detailed logging and customer support information. When a problem is encountered, support personnel can take a snapshot of the item being worked on and copy it to a test environment where they can reproduce the issue and help the user. The system can even be configured to proactively (without user initiation) notify support personnel of run-time issues.

Integrated Testing Tools

SPiFW comes with a framework for automated unit, functional and regression testing. All business functionality can be developed with the associated test utilities that run automatically on a regular schedule. Test results are gathered and formatted for easy readability; issues are reported automatically to system administrators.

Highly Technical Training by ISCS

For insurers with highly skilled and active IT departments, ISCS can provide comprehensive development training for the IT professionals to take full advantage of the complete toolset, framework, and source code access (standard with all licenses). Training can include introduction to the sample programs and configurations, review and use of the large library of components and services, use of a treasure chest of tools and utilities, and our proven developmental methodology. Capabilities learned from training include performing configuration via XML setup, developing specialized HTML screens, build your own rating and rules engines (although SurePower Innovation comes with its own), writing your own customized JAVA, managing integration into your existing and future Web services.

Ongoing System Documentation

ISCS has a regular, release schedule for enhancements and new features. We provide detailed release notes with each release. These notes include an overview of the new features and other developments in the release, which items should be "must-do" and which are optional. The notes include specific instructions on the steps to deploy the feature, including the actual XML scripts to add or code, if necessary. The release notes allow you to do as much in house as you would like. ISCS is there for you to perform the work or to provide more information as you perform the work in house.
